MUSKEGON, MI– A Maine female has actually been extradited to the Muskegon County Jail because cops state she allegedly scammed a Muskegon man whom she persuaded she had cancer and needed cash for radiation treatment.
The female formerly was featured in a Dateline NBC sting operation, authorities stated.
According to the Michigan State Cops, Jessica D. Travers, 20, has been accuseded of larceny by incorrect pretenses over $20,000.
A preliminary examination is slated for 11 am on March 9, according to Muskegon County Chief Assistant District attorney Timothy Maat.
She is presently lodged in jail on a $250,000 cash or surety bond.
Michigan State Police examined the case. The victim is substantially older than Travers and was convinced she had two small youngsters and was waiting for a monetary settlement in order to spend for radiation treatment, police said in a news release.
Travers fulfilled the alleged Muskegon victim while on an air travel from Detroit to Maryland, police said.
Travers offered the victim a phony name and age and told him she was waiting for a big financial settlement however needed money in the meantime to spend for chemotherapy. In May of 2013, Travers was included on Dateline NBC after she allegedly posted a deceptive advertisement on Craigslist saying she was 35 years old and thinking about fulfilling an older guy if he wired her $7,500, authorities stated.
Dateline NBC had Chris Hansen and a producer postureimpersonate family members of an older man who was interested in fulfilling Travers and consequently exposed her throughout an undercover sting operation, police said.
Travers once more appeared on Dateline in September of 2013 after she scammed a previous boyfriend from $4,000, cops stated.
Travers and her boyfriend were stopped in Baltimore on Feb. 20 and Travers was apprehended, cops stated.
